The Challenges of Building Bonsai 🌳
Cultivating Bonsai: A Journey Through NFT, DeFi, and App Creation
Embarking on a journey of innovation, I've been meticulously crafting an application that aims to revolutionize the NFT and DeFi landscapes – Bonsai. Envisioned as the ultimate dashboard for aficionados of NFTs and DeFi, Bonsai is designed to streamline your crypto experience. In this article, I'm excited to offer a peek behind the curtain, sharing the challenges behind building Bonsai.
Currently in its nascent stage, Bonsai's aim is to provide an all-in-one platform for tracking NFT and DeFi positions, scouting wallet investment opportunities, and enabling direct engagement in NFT and DeFi actions. Our platform already boasts exciting features, such as an integration with Push Protocol, providing real-time risk notifications. Moreover, our roadmap includes the forthcoming Liquid Staking derivatives that will assist users in discovering top staking opportunities within the Ethereum ecosystem.
The journey of building Bonsai has been a thrilling ride, a blend of brilliant ideas and intriguing challenges. Time constraints have necessitated some tough choices, but my commitment to transforming Bonsai into an indispensable asset for the NFT and DeFi communities remains unwavering. Join me as I reveal the backstage of this exciting venture.
Being a solopreneur is not always easy.
The decision to build Bonsai is not easy, but I know that this is for the medium term and that now I need to focus on my vision and the idea that I have. I understand that it comes with challenges such as not having someone to bounce ideas with, and not being the best business or marketer person. Still, I have a growth mindset and these are areas that I definitely want to progress with, and one thing I’m confident about is that I can build tech and the vision that I have for Bonsai.
The rise of AI tools such as chatGPT to accelerate the process of building has really helped me, I utilize this tool to help me with content, unit testing, and being able to get back precious hours to spend on brainstorming and the core product.
Juggling a Full-Time Job, Two Kids, and Bonsai
My family welcomed a beautiful baby girl, our second child, just days before launching this newsletter. It's clear to me now that balancing a full-time job, a budding side project and a family with two kids is an ambitious endeavor. Yet, I'm motivated by regret from the previous crypto bull market - the missed opportunity to build a sustainable, long-term project. Determined not to repeat that mistake, I've committed myself to a new challenge: Bonsai.
I want to be clear - my family, my health, and my job will never be neglected. I realized early on that the key to managing these multiple responsibilities is a solid, efficient system. Before our second child was born, I began organizing my life meticulously using productivity tools like Mem.ai and Google Calendar.
My day now starts early, dedicating one to two hours each morning to pre-planned tasks for Bonsai. These could range from technical undertakings, like implementing the Swap router or refactoring a feature, to content planning for our Twitter page. After a day at work, I cherish the moments spent with my family, followed by some time for fitness. Once my children are asleep, I devote another three hours to the project, focusing on technical aspects, strategic planning, and brainstorming.
This might seem like an arduous routine, but I assure you, it's not. My passion for this project fuels me, and the thought of potentially assisting users in the future fills me with excitement. I know that my efforts today will bear fruit tomorrow, and that makes every day worthwhile.
Getting my message out to the world
Navigating the development of Bonsai 🌳 has been an engaging and enlightening journey. The key challenge I'm grappling with is effectively communicating the unique attributes of Bonsai to a broad audience. It's a delicate balancing act; while I am aware Bonsai isn't yet perfect, I understand the necessity of early feedback for ongoing refinement.
Content planning and personal branding are instrumental in this process. This newsletter, an initiative I particularly enjoy, serves as a platform to connect, comprehend needs, and build a community. Growing my personal brand, I believe, will fuel Bonsai Finance's expansion, providing a clearer understanding of user needs.
Bonsai is continually evolving. My goal is to maintain its simplicity while addressing the complexity of tracking on-chain activities, ranging from individual wallets to the latest trending NFT collections. To achieve the best possible solution, community involvement is essential. In this context, personal branding becomes pivotal.
As this journey unfolds, your feedback is invaluable. Don't hesitate to reach out, subscribe to the newsletter, or follow me on Twitter for daily updates. Your support is greatly appreciated and I look forward to hearing your thoughts.
